Having a free license really limits what Xenforo can give you, for instance, because Xenforo is paid, it's able to bring extremely wonderful customer service to the public, and integrations/new features really have that extra touch that makes it so that it's not rushed. Also, if you are trying to get a free XenForo site with a "branded domain", well that's actually twice as bad because then XenForo has to pay for the servers, has to include new tools, and still only gets so little profit...
